Strange bug filled with what looked to be fresh human/pet blood found in home in North Carolina
My family lives in North Carolina, we recently found a strange looking bug crawling on our bed next to our dog. I picked it up using a tissue and in doing so, noticed it was very heavy and not easily mashed with fingers. So I did the next best thing and stepped on it on our bathroom floor. Really expected to see typical bug guts, but was very surprised when there was this big gush of bright red blood that came from it. Looked to be fresh human or pet blood. I have a picture of the dead bug. I immediately started researching online and came across what looked very similar (a kissing bug). Took to our local exterminator and they seemed to think the same. Upon inspection of our house, they saw no sign of any investation and said probably just a stray that made it's way inside. A few weeks later, I found a very small bug that looked similar. I also took this live bug to our exterminator and they sent off to have tested. Identified as a vine weevil. But really had no explanation for the first bug being filled with what looked to be human blood. Wondering if the first one was actually a kissing bug. Any info you could provide would be greatly appreciated.
