Shoulder mounts and a bear rug. Please advise.
Any kind of moth or beetle infestation in taxidermy mounts can be difficult to control. A simple spray or fogger does not exist that will completely eliminate the infestations. The surest way to eliminate the infestation is through "fumigation" or where the mounts are placed into an air tight chamber and fumigated with a lethal gas such as Vikane. This has to be done through a licensed certified fumigator. A company that specializes in this may or may not be available in your area.
The only other option is to treat the mounts directly with a product such as Nuvan Aerosol spray. This product has some fumigating properties but will not completely penetrate the mount. Regular monthly applications are probably necessary until the infestation is eliminated.
