I only recommend to use dust insecticides such as this in places where it can't be seen. Places such as cracks and crevices, voids, etc. Also outdoors. Indoors, scattering or using the dust in areas where it can be seen is messy, visible usually poses a hazard. Scattering this product around anything is not a proper application in my opinion.
If the product is to be used around dry pet food, then it seems to me that the problem could be the pet food itself is infested. If so, using this product will do nothing to combat it.
Although the label for Evergreen allows application to floors, etc, I would not recommend it. I would prefer a clear, invisible insecticide application such as Demand, Suspend, Etc.
