I don't recommend to use pesticides in a hose end sprayer. The reason is that the directions specifiy an exact amount to dilute with water to get an end concentration. In the case of Essentria, 2 oz per gallon of water is recommended for most applications. It is almost impossible to accurately calibrate this with an over the counter or garden variety hose end sprayer.
You can try, and it may help to keep from burning the plants. But using a garden pump up sprayer is my recommendation.
Fertilizers are fine for hose end sprayers as they have to be watered anyway.
