The Dekko Silverfish trap contains boric acid. If the cats eat the entire trap, then it would be the same as eating about 1/8 teaspoon of salt. I doubt if that would hurt the cat, it could make them very thirsty. This is only if they eat the trap.
If they only play with the trap or "bat them around", I don't feel that there could be anyharm to the cat other than maybe some of the boric acid bouncing out or getting on their paws. If they lick their paws, there should not be enough on them to hurt.
Boric acid is used in lots of medical products, Visine (gets the red out), and also in many food products.
Here is a great article on Boric Acid - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boric_acid
I think it is safer than table salt. It's not 100% safe, but safe enough to be used.

The ePest IPM Traps will also capture silverfish, and do not contain boric acid, but they are glue based, which could cause the cats to get their paws stuck.

Hope this helps.
