No, it is not adjustable, the statement is only a general estimate of all sizes emitted. Particle sizes such as those in the 5-10 micron range would require a specialized machine. The only machine that could come close to putting out a continuos "fog" of 5-10 microns under heavy use conditions would be the Unifix SG 1000. The particle size is adjustable on this unit, however, there is no way to calibrate it to a certain size, only adjust it by eyesight.
