Palmetto Bugs (usually american cockroaches) are easily controlled with most pesticides. Most of the time, they live in Palmetto trees (palms) and live under and between dead fronds. So treating the trees if any, would be the first course of treatment. Any residual insecticide such as Bifen, Cyonara (my choice) or anything labeled for use on trees and lawns will work.
The same chemical can also be used to treat the lawn, under shrubs and the exterior perimeter of the home. The outdoors is where the problems begins and where the treatment should be focused.
Indoors, Demon WP, Demand, Suspend or anything labeled for use indoors will work. Treat along baseboards, under and behind furniture, garage, etc.
Inside walls, under cabinets, etc, should be dusted with Delta Dust. You will need a small hand duster such as the Puffer Duster to do this. Simply dust or puff the dust into the areas you are treating. You may also consider removing all of the wall switch plates and dusting into the walls. Also dusting into walls around plumbing lines under sinks, etc.
Bug Traps such as the Catchmaster 288I work well to capture them indoors AFTER you have done all of the above. Simply place them out of site under furniture, along walls, etc.. Toss them in the trash and replace when they get full or you don't want to see the trapped bugs. Also works great for spiders too.
This treatment should be performed every 60-90 days for best control year round.
Hope this helps.
