HELP! Travelling in motorhome in San Blas, Nayrit State in Mexico, we hit a termite nest in a tree.

Travelling in motorhome in San Blas, Nayrit State in Mexico, we hit a termite nest in a tree. The Termites came in thru the roof vent and we did not know until 5 hours after hit the nest. We believe they are Arboreal Swarm termites with wings that fell off while entering so they crawled on the floor out from under a counter behind the fridge vent. We immediately sprayed all vents, floor and roof top vents, etc. with a 1 gallon pump bottle insecticide we had bought earlier from a Mexican Home Depot and seem to have got everything, however, we want to insure nothing is hidden, and wonder what further steps we could use until we get ourselves back into the US which will not be for several months.Since we are further south, not much is available in Mexico so would spraying again with a Baygon bomb spray be effective until we are back??? Please help and send an answer to elamuleto@shaw.ca

If the termites are drywood or aerial termites, then it is somewhat possible that they could infest the walls of the motor home. Although they do not eat foam or fiberglass, anything made of wood could become a food source.

Spraying probably will not do any good at this point, if they have infested. And that is the BIG question, have they infested and will they infest? I would say its a 75% chance that they will NOT infest and become a problem.

They only thing you can do at this point is to wait until they swarm again, which could be next year or several years from now. If that happens, they you will have to have the motor home fumigated by a professional fumigation company.

Don't waste any money on store type pesticides and spraying. IT will not kill the termites that may be inside the walls. If you find any more termites crawling around, vacuum them up. If this becomes a future problem. Please let me know.
