Martins Gopher Bait 50 is an extremely toxic rodenticide. It should only be appied into gopher tunnels and below ground (subterranean applications). Any application above ground is prohibited for the reason of safety to animals and children.
With this being said, if the application was made above ground, then the only way to remove it is to extract it or cover it. I would recommend using a shop type vacuum and trying to remove as much as possible. The only other thing you can do is to cover the ground with dirt or mulch up to a thickness where the product is completely buried and it is inaccessible to animals or children. Water or rain will not effect it. It could take a very long time for it to dissipate, maybe a year or longer.
If the puppy survives, I would highly recommend to keep it off these areas until you can do something to remove or cover it. A fenced in area covered in mulch or even cement pavers might work, or keep the puppy off the yard entirely would be the best thing.
As with all products that we sell, I highly recommend that you read and follow the label directions before use. In most cases, pesticides can be dangerous if misused. This is a valuable lesson, probably fairly expensive as well.
Hope this helps.
