what is the best way to kill goffer rats

goffer rats are eating my water pipes. how do i kill them?

I am not familiar with goffer rats, and a quick search on Google only brought up Gophers, and what some people call Gopher rats, which are sometimes nutria.

Gophers and Nutria are not known to eat water pipes. Are you sure this is a goffer rat?
