There are several products that are "time release". But it depends on what you are calling "time release". A true time release product would be an aerosol dispenser such as Time Mist with Clear Zone that dispenses every few minutes. This is basically applied on a timed method, such as every 15 minutes, 30 minutes, etc.
Microencapsulated products such as Microcare are not time release, they are basically slow release, giving a much longer period of activity compared to other liquid sprays that are not micro encapsulated.
Micro encapsulation is basically a process where the chemical, in this case pyrethrins, is encased inside tiny polymer balls. This is the same technology that is used in medications where the ingredient is encased in tiny balls and then placed inside a capsule. Sort of like the old "Contact" commercials. Microencapsulated pesticides only serve to offer a longer period of activity. In this case, Microcare will last much longer with microencapsulated pyrethrins than a standard liquid version such as Excitr insecticide. Fruit Fly control requires good sanitation, removal of any food attraction such as rotting fruit, garbage, etc, and then usual treatment with Aersols or traps to control the flying adults.
