The Termitrac T3I works by either finding vibrations caused by sound or by finding excessive moisture. If the beetles are large enough or there are enough of them to cause vibrations, then yes it would indicate the vibrations. It doesn't tell you what insect you have, and the use is predicated on training and your personal experience using it.
Finding 1 or just a few beetles or larvae may be difficult. Drywood termites on the other hand can have hundreds of workers and caste members active making the vibrations much easier to find.
Finding dead beetles or larvae would not be possible.
