Mice are nibblers and prefer grains. Oats, milo, corn, and even peanuts and peanut butter are much better than dog food. We also carry professional lures such as the Pro Pest Lures and also Provoke Mouse Lure. I wish I could tell that dog food or cat food would work, and maybe it will, but it is not the best lure. Any mouse trap will work if the right lure is used.
The Ketchall Mouse trap can be baited by placing the bait inside of the catch area. Just slide the outer panel up and then place the bait into this area, then slide it back down. Works every time (almost).
I would recommend snap traps or the Ketchall for mouse control. Glue boards can do exactly what you are describing, its called glue trap "Aversion". The mice are smart, figure out what is going on and avoid the glue traps. Snap traps or Ketchalls will get them
Hope this helps.
