How Long Does It Take KM Ant Pro To Work?

Hi, I ordered your system a few weeks ago. Carpenter ants were the issue inside the house here in Michigan (as it has been cold). We still are in the 25-50 degree F range outside, but we have seen less ants (bait traps are in basement, laundry room) and now typically some larger ants that seem to be moving more slowly (I assumed this was the ants in the nest coming out and looking for food).

But we now have a bunch of little ants that are coming into the laundry room -- specifically attacking the dog food bowl! They seem to come from the outside wall...so we moved the dog food bowl to the inside wall. There is a 60 year-old tree about 3 feet from the outside wall which should be a great spot for ants to be living...

I decided to put a bait trap within a foot of where the dog food bowl used to be. (inside the house as it is still cold outside and the ants are definitely inside the house already). I have had a bait trap about 4 feet away (on the other side of an inside wall) for about a week -- but I have never seen the ants swarm around the bait trap like they do on the dog food.... and I still haven't seen a reduction in the number of ants. Therefore, I moved the bait trap to where the dog food bowl used to be (outside wall) and then put the dog food on the opposite wall of the laundry room (no ants on the new dog food location last night or this morning)

As soon as it is warm, I plan to put 2 traps about 6 feet from the base of the tree (one further from the house and one close to the outside wall of the laundry room where we seem to have the most ants recently).

Is there anything else that I should do?

I am attaching a photo of the ants in case you think I should be doing something differently. I am using the gourmet liquid ant bait.

The thing you have to remember when using the KM Ant Pro system with Gourmet Liquid Ant Bait, is that this system replaces the ants natural food sources. This is extremely important because occasionally, the ants will find a food source that is much more attractive and they will feed on it as opposed to what they are NATURALLY feeding on. This is best described as someone that is eating a regular food, and then all of the sudden they find ICE CREAM or something they really like. There is no way to stop this from happening except to make sure that they cannot get to the ice cream.

So basically, make sure that the ants cannot get to the dog food, maybe put it inside of a larger dish or pan that has either oil or water inside to trap the ants. Vasoline smeared around the base of the bowl, etc. can help too.

Bottom line, the ants have to find the KM Ant Pros naturally, and begin feeding. This has to become their natural food source over all other food sources. When this happens, the ants will start to die (slow acting bait) and before long the ants are gone. It really is that simple.

Don't expect to find piles of dead ants, etc. You just stop seeing ants. Don't give up yet, keep on. It's early in the season (March), and it just takes some time.
