I'm having an infestation, by something so small I can't see them but feel them jumping,crawling, and biting me da

and night. They are too small to be fleas, and they bite at night in the bed, so can't be black flies. Not bed bugs, or lice, as far as I can tell. I've tried washing clothes and linens in hot soapy water, and flea spray on the bed seemed to kill something like a splinter, both black ones and reddish brown ones. We have alot of big pecan trees that grow over the roof, and keep much of the yard in shade, at the rental property in Madill, Oklahoma. My husband and I both have red itchy spots, like black flies leave, but I haven't seen any flies, except for fruit and common house flies. Idk? Please help! We also have pets, 2 dogs, 1 Guennea pig. Also a snake and soft shell turtle in aquariums.

Many times when we think we are being bitten by something, it is very easy to think it must be an insect. The truth however is that insects are very visible to naked eye, even mites.

There really isn't anything that I am aware of called a "black flea". There are dog fleas and cat fleas, rat fleas, etc.

Red itchy spots sounds more like bed bugs to me. Bed bugs are very mobile, will bite you and then go hide somewhere. They are fairly large, but like to hide from view, so you can't see or find them.

The other possibility is that it is a mite, or simply an "allergen". Allergens such as mold, pollen, etc also cause itching and bite like symptoms.
