Hi Tom. Worker termites cannot survive without their colony. Dumping them on the ground would almost certainly result in their death.
With that said, to treat the walls of the home, you have 2 options.
First option - Use Termidor Foam. Apply Termidor foam in between the studs and fill the lower portion of the walls up with foam to height of about 12 inches. 1 can will treat approximately 10 -15 wall voids this way.
Second option - use the Solo Foamer and mix Termidor with a foaming agent such as ProFoam and make your own foam. This way, you can treat every wall void in your home if you want to. You will need the Solo Foamer, Termidor 20 oz concentrate, water and Profoam concentrate.
You don't need an air compressor to do this. You can pump the Solo foamer by hand. The new Solo Foamers don't come with an air chuck either.
You also need to consider treating the outside perimeter. Use Termidor concentrate and mix with water. Apply at a rate of 4 gallons per 10 linear foot in a 3" - 6" wide trench around the complete outer perimeter of the home. If the home is a pier and beam, they you also do the same on the interior foundation and around piers, plumbing etc.
