I recently found holes in some articles of clothing in one of my closet. I have removed all items from the closet - discarded what was ruined, washed what was machine washable, and packed the remainder in a plastic bag to be dry cleaned.
I've vacuumed the closed, spayed the walls with a water/essential lavendar oil mixure and placed a plate of about 1 tsp of essential lavendar oil in the closet.
While examing the clothes I found no more than 5 very tiny moths. So far I haven't seen any more but realize that doesn't mean they are not there.
Before putting clothes back in closet, I'm now seeking information on how to manage the cracks and crevices and cloth moth traps. I assume the trap is no more than an 'alert' that the moths exist and not a solution.
The ProPest cloth moth trap, and possibly others claim to not only trap the male moth, but the larvae as well. I understand the former, but am unclear on how it traps the larvae.
Any suggstions on my next course of action would be appreciated. Am also unclear as to why I have found cloth moth traps for online purchase only. Why are they not carried in stores?
In the room below there is a closet almost directly under this one. i have not seen signs of cloth moths or cloth moth damage in this closet. However, I assume, I should take some preventive action here as well..... your thoughts?
Thank you
Simone
