I found/saw what looks like a beetle

brown with a 2 segmented body and about 1 inch long with what looks like pinchers in the front. The widest part of the body(opposite of the pinchers) is 1\4 to 3/8 inch wide. The other segment is about 1/8 wide. the pest was coming from my yard into my rock landscape. I have plants in the landscape also.

It sounds like what is commonly known as an earwig. If that's what it is, they are harmless. Outdoor and exterior perimeter treatments using Demon WP should take care of the problem.
