Granule applications of Bifenthrin (Talstar) will work the best. Permethrin will work, but it usually takes many more applications compared to only 2-3 applications will Bifenthrin.
Liquid sprays are also not the best method of application during the hot summer. In the fall and early spring, liquid applications perform better when the grass is not growing as fast. When you apply liquid pesticides, and then mow in a few days, the pesticide is removed for the most part. Granules will penetrate to the base of the grass blades and slowly release.
