As far as I know, there are no side effects other than eye irritation if you get it in your eyes. Mosquito Dunks are made of Bacillus Thuringiensis a bacteria that destroys the mosquito larvae. It can be placed in bird baths, usused swimming pools, even lakes where fish are active. It is considered safe, and green.
