If you are only doing a preventive treatment, then termite baiting is definitely the way to go. Hex Pro Termite Bait System is actually the first generation Sentricon system sold by many pest control companies. Installing Hex Pro Termite Bait Stations around the house is simple and very effective.
A soil treatment can also be effective, but the labor that is required is much more than that of a Termite Bait System.
With a Termite Bait system, you only have to dig a small hole insert the station, then fill in the dirt around it.
A soil treatment requires digging a trench completely around the house, pouring almost a hundred gallons or more of termiticide into it, covering it up, then treating the plumbing and walls inside. A termite bait system has to be inspected every 3 months or so, but it only takes a few minutes.
So the question is which is cheaper, better, less expensive, less labor intensive, eliminates the termite colony, keeps future colonies from forming, is environmentally friendly, is removable - the list goes on.
Termite bait is the answer.
