Water leaks are not the cause of Springtail outbreaks. Rain, moisture, humidity, etc are. The only way to get rid of springtails is to treat outdoors (lawn, grounds, etc) every few weeks until they subside. There is no overnight cure, as the problem tends to be more of a regional outbreak that can encompass an entire area. They are not an issue at your house and not your neighbors, regardless of what your neighbors might say. Onslaught Fastcap is the best outdoor pesticide to use.
Indoors, vacuuming, the use of a heavy coat of lemon oil on window sills and more vacuuming is the only answer. Indoor pesticides seldom do anything to solve the problem.
