Looks like flour beetle larva (or their exos) came up from clogged bathroom sink drain after plunging?
i moved into the home in june (city water) and the bathroom sink has always drained a little slow. the inspector said the tub could drain a little better too but things checked out ok. i am OBSESSED with wiping hair, makeup and toothpaste from the sink (do this several times a day) and also have a trap in the tub to catch hair...i clean this out 2-3x EACH shower because of long hair and also, agaim, because i am obsessed ;) Anyway, the slow-draining bathroom sink got worse. used hot & boiled water several times...several different days and still it's worse. plunged it and the sink filled with black gunk of course but i also discoverd what looks like flour beetle larva (or their exos) which i recognized after having a pantry issue with them YEARS ago (different house.) i remember how mortifying it was to find their "command center" in a box of mrs. grasses noodle soup! ...like something the Dozers built in Fraggle Rock LOL.
caved and bought target brand drain-o gel. used 1/5 bottle - waited 15min then ran hot water (per the instructions) and things got better....for a day....but then things got worse and the sink AND tub have quit draining. these little dudes can't colonize in my pipes can they? i have no trees or roots but i do have a ginormous mole. thought we could co-exist and that he'd take care of the beetles and eat the larva (they're not japanese beetles but some kind of cousin...tan with black stripes and smaller) but it seems mr. mole will not be happy until he digs up my entire front and back yards...and the neighbors.
anyway...its a trifecta of pests...exoskeletons, moles and larva, oh my! with a plumbing issue on top. Thanks!
