Hi Curtis. The easiest way to identify a leaf footed bug is to look at the hind legs. Just above the foot joint there is a small enlarged area of the leg that looks similar to a leaf. There are several different species of leaf footed bugs and determining which species it is - is hard to determine without an actual speciman.
The Assassin bug does not have this enlarged area. Both look similar due to the "fan" shaped area around the abdomen.
Honestly, I really can't tell too much from the pictures. I need a closer over the top image that shows the whole body or actual specimens.
