The best answer comes directly from the Sterifab website - STERIFAB IS A COMBINATION OF SYNTHETIC PYRETHROID, A DUAL QUAT AND ISOPROPYL ALCOHOL. WHEN THE PRODUCT DRIES (15-20 MINUTES AT ROOM TEMPERATURE) IT IS NO LONGER ACTIVE.
So basically, it kills by disrupting the insects nervous system. The combination of the dual quat and alcohol probably act more as a carrier and enable the formula to dry rapidly.
