Any treatment other than a tent fumigation with Vikane is considered a localized or spot treatment. There are 2 products that can be used as a spot treatment in homes that I feel are effective. Termidor and Bora Care. Both of these products are applied directly to the infested wood. That means they can be sprayed on exposed studs, beams, etc. The question is will they penetrate the wood to kill the termites that are within the wood? In most cases, drilling holes in the wood and injecting these chemicals with a syringe or needle injector helps.
All of this has to be be done before you insulate, close the walls, etc. And every single stud, board, joist, sill plate etc has to be treated. This can be an arduous task.
There is no exact way to treat, there is no sure fire way to kill drywood termites outside of tent fumigation. Spot treatments can be effective. It all depends on how much effort you put into it.
Hope this helps.
