Can I DIY with an already existing Dow Agrosciences Sentricon system?

I purchased a house with Dow Agrosciences Sentricon bait stations in place. The seller included the service contract for a year. After the year, I had to take it over.

Is there a method to maintain these stations myself? Do I have access to purchase the refills, key, and wood for these stations? Or is there a compatible product that I can use to maintain these stations?

I appreciate your help.

Sentricon is not available as a DIY product and you cannot purchase actual Sentricon parts. However, Hex Pro is the original Sentricon system developed in the late 1990's. The lid and color of the station has changed, and also the cartridge containing the "bait" has been renamed to "Shatter". Otherwise it is the exact same product made by the same company. Hex Pro and Shatter were introduced to the market several years ago and intended to be used by Professionals who were not "Sentricon Certified".

We have all the Hex Pro parts, stations, Shatter Bait and keys available for purchase at ePestControl.com. If you decide to forego the high cost of an annual inspection by a certified Sentricon specialist, we can certainly help.

There are differences in the newest Sentricon "Always Active" termite bait stations. These stations are prebaited and do not contain wood. A very similar system is Trelona ATBS. Trelona stations are available pre-baited also. Here are the links -

The stations are the same width and length. The only difference is the shape of the cap or lid. Shatter Cartridges and the wood inserts will fit into Sentricon stations. No need to replace.

When the Shatter cartridges are 50% or more consumed by the termites it is time to replace them. if the Shatter bait is wet and moldy, move the entire station to a drier location, and then use the wood strips to monitor. When the termites find the station, install a new Shatter cartridge. Basically when in doubt, install a new Shatter cartridge.

If you find termites infesting the stations and feeding on the wood strips (detectors) replace them with the Shatter Cartridge. Its like a bait and switch tactic.

Hi Ron, I have old Sentricon bait traps with HexPro bait. Is it necessary to also have the wood chips as well? What is the function of the wood chips?
Thank you for all of this. I've had a Sentricon system in place for several years and stopped my annual subscription with the pest control company because there's no current activity in the bait stations and I wanted to switch to the "previous" chemical that I heard one could use oneself. Now I know what that is and will get this. But I signed up for an account here mainly so that I could thank you for the laugh I got from your "bait and switch" :)
