For termite preconstruction treatment under slabs, foundations, etc, the best product is Termidor SC. Termidor SC appies at a rate of 1 gallon per 10 square feet under the slab. After the home is built, it applies at 4 gallons every 10 linear feet along the foundation. Depending on the overall square footage, it could take 100 - 150 gallons of diluted Termidor SC to complete the treatment.
For example -
2000 square foot home
Interior soil - 1 gallon per 10 square feet = 200 gallons of Termidor SC.
Exterior foundation - approximately 240 linear feet = 240 / 10 x 4 = 96 gallons of Termidor SC
Total = 296 gallons of Termidor SC.
Cost = Termidor SC 78 oz x 3 = $567
FYI - the above specifications are per the label rate. This is the rate of application MANDATED by federal law (EPA and FIFRA). The problem is that most pest control companies will never use this much Termidor. Most in my opinion would use less than half of the 296 gallons required. This is to save TIME and MONEY.
If you get quotes for this type of treatment, the average price is around .30 cents per square foot. This makes the overall price around $600.00. The chemical cost alone would be around $567.00 so you can see why they cut costs and chemical.

I am not a believer in reporting anyone or company to the TDA. They will meet their own fate when the TDA investigator shows up on a job site. If the label says 1 gallon per square feet, the actual usage will be closer to 1200 - 1500 gallons of mix. PLUS the exterior barrier AFTER the structure is built. Thats another 480+ gallons making the the total chemical usage over 1600 gallons. Most companies don't do this either.
If they are charging over .25 cents per square foot, then the fee would be $3000 + dollars. If they are using only 50 gallons, the chemical cost is around $100 (Termidor SC) The owners probably had a nice vacation somewhere.....
