Timbor is a good wood pretreatment. After the wood is stained or finished, it will not penetrate. So the answer is on finished wood, Timbor is not the answer. Depending on where you live, Termidor Foam may be the answer. Simply inject it into the termite kickout holes and see if it works. Control may take 4-8 weeks.
The only other option is to remove and replace the wood. If the wood is totally isolated as you mention, this should work.
