Its hard to say if it can be removed. But it can certainly be treated. I would suggest to contact a local construction or remodeling guy and see if it can be removed.

I have just noticed a small area in the tongue and groove ceiling in our lanai. Hard to inspect.
Can the tongue and groove be removed, and spot treated
