This species of termite builds aerial nests usually around dead wood and dead trees. Most termite baits such as Shatter will not be consumed by the termites in a situation like that unless you use special attraction techniques. One such technique is to use Gatorade and soak the bait (Shatter) in it. A piece of paper towel or something made of wood is then soaked in Gatorade and placed into the termite nest. This is called "wicking". The termites then may eat their way into the bait using the Gatorade soaked paper.
Hex Pro Stations only contain wood. They do not contain any bait. Hex Pro is only designed for in Ground Use. When the termites hit the Hex Pro stations, the wood is removed and a Shatter cartridge is inserted. This will not work for termites that are above ground in aerial nests.
Sentricon (not available to unlicensed persons) uses what is called an "above ground" station or "AG" station. This could work for aerial termite nests, but unfortunately can't be sold. The option is to make your own AG station using a small electrical box which can be screwed onto a tree or aerial colony and filling it with Shatter and Gatorade using the above mentioned method.
Hope this helps.
