I also had a problem of that nature for the last 2 years. I found out that I had water leakage from my pipes which was contributing to them. Roaches cannot survive 2 days without water and 7 days without food. I do not leave any food out and I try to not leave water hanging around. I empty all animal water dishes before bed. If you have a fish tank more than likely they are getting water source from it. I try to clean all my dishes in the sink way before bed. I keep my drains in the sink plugged up. I use a small mesh drain strainer in each of my sinks. You can find them in sets of 3's at Walmart. Repair holes in window screens. I also have sprinkled borax in the cabinets in the bathroom and plugged up any pipe holes. I try not to keep cardboard boxes around as they eat paper. I once found a sponge torn apart by roaches in my utility room from which they were getting their water from because it had been wet. If you have palm trees in your yard they often times live inside them, hence "palmetto". Another natural way is to not kill lizards and frogs as they eat roaches and other bugs outside the home. I trim back trees and plants from my home. Also, I put a link in the source box that you can take a look at. Hope this helps in some way.

For German and other actual roaches - Boric acid will devastate their population. I'm not sure if it will kill Palmetto Bugs but I can tell you that they come from Palm Treeas - so if you have palm trees - that is where they are coming from.
But anyway; Bug Barrier spray (Deltamethrin) is what I use in my Florida house - all around the walls inside and outside and you will not have a palmetto bug in the house for five or six months. I try to remember to spray (I get the battery powered sprayer on a gallon jug) it three times a year and I only have palmetto bugs if I forget to do it.

Palmetto Bugs get there name from Palmetto Trees. A Palmetto or Palm tree that has a very heavy canopy (dead fronds or leaves that have dropped and a clumped together below the live fronds) provide excellent harborage for palmetto bugs. So basically if you have a Palmetto Bug problem, it's because there is a Palmetto Tree close by that is harboring them.
The best product to use professionally is Demon WP. Demon WP is a water soluble powder that is mixed in water and sprayed. It's inexpensive and provides weeks of protection. It helps to spray around the Palmetto Tree too. If possible have the canopy inspected and treated also.
