Termidor foam contains a foaming agent that expands just like shaving cream. It also dissolves just like shaving cream. The reason for the foam is to allow the active ingredient (fipronyl) to better penetrate voids, galleries, cracks, etc. The foaming action expands and allows the ingredient to contact surfaces where a liquid would not. So basically its like putting either shaving cream on your face or water. The shaving cream will eventually turn to water, but while it expands it sticks and adheres to your face.
When insects contact Termidor it has an effect on them similar to a virus. So to answer your question, Termidor will have an effect on the entire colony. It also kills on contact when wet. After its dry, it has a delayed effect and the termites will carry it around and pass it off to the other termites like a virus.
Hope this helps.
