We use Trustpilot as our product review platform. We have no control over reviews good or bad. If there is a bad review, I usually respond to it and you can see my response. In most cases with pesticide products, a bad review is given when the user doesn't achieve the expected results. But that can be the fault of the user as well and in most cases it is.
The professional products that we sell and distribute require millions of dollars in development costs, EPA and State registration costs, etc. Most manufacturers such as Bayer which is the manufacturer of Maxforce Fleet are not going to release a product unless it has gone through extensive testing and development. This product works for its intended use and when used as directed. The problem is that most people don't read labeling or directions because they think they don't need to and therefore they miss important details that might help them achieve results.
Here is a great example using Maxforce Fleet Bait - someone purchases a single tube of bait to use against a large infestation of ants. The label and directions call for numerous bait placements wherever ants are found. The use purchased 1 tube of bait because they want to "try" it to see how it works. The problem is that due to the species of ant and the large area they are distributed over, a single tube won't make a dent in the population. As is the case with Argentine Ants, the label might call for 10-20 tubes over several weeks or months of applications because there are millions of ants. The customer uses the single tube all in one application, sees no results, does not think it works so posts a bad review. This is just an example.
Using pesticides is like painting a house. Purchasing the paint and tools can be expensive. Doing the job properly requires a strategy and a lot of work. Ultimately the results are shown in how well the painter applied the paint. Not in the type of paint used.
The only time I argue against a bad review is when it spam or it contains derogatory or profane language. Those types of reviews get deleted by Trustpilot. Otherwise, I have no control over what people think or want to say. But I do offer my opinion and help if they are having problems.
An additional note - almost all of the product returns we get are from people who are impatient and want immediate results. They are trying to save money by doing it themselves, but really don't want to spend the time or the money to do it properly. The customers that take the time to study the problem and even contact us for help are satisfied 99% of the time. Those are our best customers - some have used us since we started in 1997.
