If the dogs are large enough where they would actually play with or destroy the dispensers, then I would not recommend using them in this area. A way to use them on trees is to build a platform or base that attaches to the side of the tree for the dispenser to sit on. xxxx the base of the dispenser to the wood platform. I am sure if you get a little creative you could figure out how to do this.
If you want to secure the dispensers to the ground, drill a hole on each side of the base and insert a 12 - 18" piece of rebar through the base and into the ground at an angle forming an X under the dispenser. A 3/8" wide piece of rebar works well.
The liquid bait used (Greenway) has the toxicity of table salt. If the dogs or raccoons or any animal ingests it, it would be like drinking salty water. Enough of it could make them sick, that's probably about it. We have never had a report of serious injury to any animal using this product.
