Ok, here is the quick lesson on natural and organic. Doesn't mean it is safe. Simple as that.
Arsenic comes from apples. Phosphorus gas and Chlorine gas come from the ground. Some of the deadliest chemicals known to man are completely natural and organic. End of lesson. :-)
What you are looking for is something safe. The absolute safest product to use around gardens for ants is the KM Ant Pro System and Gourmet Ant Bait. This system is used by hundreds of growers and farmers in completely "organic" food crop settings.
The reason that Abamectin is not labeled for use around gardens is simple. It is a poisonous soil fungus that was discovered in Japan. Just so happens that it is great for insect control. Just keep it away from pets, plants and people.
There are other ways to kill ants in gardens, but they all require spraying chemicals. The only baits that I recommend are those in concealed stations that protect the plants from exposure.

Fire ant control with the KM Ant Pro System can take a little longer, because of the sheer number of ants. If you have already gone through a bottle of bait, then obviously, the ants outnumbered the bait, and it it needs to be replenished. This is very common when dealing with many thousands, even millions of ants. If you have not seen any fire ants in the stations, then that could be a concern, usually you will see some activity. So I need to know if you are out of bait, or if the stations are empty.
