The Bird X Bug Chaser is designed for indoor use or for use in barns, sheds, etc. I would not recommend to use it without weatherproof protection. What are you trying to get rid of?

I'm trying to get rid of raccoons and opposums.

I would not recommend the Bug Chaser for use against Raccoons or possums. It is designed for bugs, and small pests, not aggressive animals.
I would recommend either trapping them and relocating them using a Havahart live animal trap,
Or using the Scarecrow Automatic Animal Deterrent. Its an automatic water sprinkler with a motion detector device that comes on when the animals come around. It works.
We have reports of many customers using it for Deer and even Bears that like to eat garbage off of the back porch, garage, etc..
