I have very tiny, not even a quarter inch long bright red, flat bug on the porch wood of my trailer home. When you squash one there is a bright right stain like paint. One railing has small pitted dots on it, the rest of the prrch seems OK. Porch is exterior wood with opaque wood stain. Any help you can give me in identifying these creatures would be very helpful.

Red spider mites. These are not termites. Red spider mites are very common in many parts of the USA. The best product to use is Bifen. Just spray everything outdoors where you see them. 2-3 treatments may be necessary to control them.
