If raccoons are chewing away at your car, then all they are looking for is something to eat. Trapping them with a live trap and then relocating them is the proper thing to do. There is nothing mechanical or chemical that I am aware of the keeps animals away from anything. Trapping and relocating is the most humane thing to do.
