The KM Ant Pro stations are designed for outdoor use. The ants, including carpenter ants, etc, will find the stations and begin feeding. The beauty of this system is that is replaces the ants natural food sources such as aphids, honeydew, etc.
Placing the Ant Pros on the porch is not recommended. Reason is that the ants have a food source somewhere, outdoors, and they have to find the Ant Pro stations and begin feeding. The best place to install the Ant Pros is under shrubs, decks, and in cool, shaded areas out of direct sunlight. This is where the ants will feed. Not usually on an open porch.
Also, the Ant Pros should not be spilling bait when bumped. The way to "activate" the Ant Pros is to turn the base completely closed, then unscrew it 1/2 turn. Then set the set xxxx on the side of the station.
When the ants begin actively feeding on the Ant Pros, it then takes 3-4 weeks before the ants start dying off. You won't see dead ants, or piles of dead ants, the ants just start disappearing.
Don't place the Ant Pros inside the house. Place them out in the lawn near areas where the ants will feed. If after you do this, and you still don't see results, let me know.
