Technically, you can place termite bait stations directly into a garden if you are treating an area close to a structure. Termite bait cartridges don't actually contact the soil. The active baits actually hang inside the protective outer bait station, usually never coming into direct contact with the soil.
I would not have a problem baiting in an area where you are growing vegetables. The only restriction could be with in ground baits such as Firstline GT plus and Terminate Termite Bait Stakes. But again, I would not have a problem, and would much rather use baits in an area such as this, over conventional soil treatments, which would have a much higher chance of absorbing into the roots of the the plants.
