Wow, you guys are dealing with a nightmare. I wished I could tell you in a few simple sentences what to do. Unfortunately, since you are in Canada, it changes everything. The rules and regulations on pesticide use are very different than the USA. My best advice is to not even think about using heat remediation, especially since the company that is doing it has no experience. Heat remediation is only 90% effective on bed bugs, so that means out of every 100 bed bugs, 10 survive. It's not good odds, and with mites, it is probably even less than 90% control.
The bottom line is that the nests have to be removed. If you don't remove the nests you will not stop the mite propagation. The areas need to be treated/sprayed with an AVICIDE that kills mites. Talstar Pro and Bifen IT, BIFEN XTS are examples. Another product that kills them on contact is STERIFAB.
The problem is that you have to purchase these through a Canadian company. We cannot sell them to you or ship them to Canada.
Bleach, Borax, Windex and Lysol won't kill them. Vacuuming and then tossing out the bag or cleaning out the canister is a good option. I would vacuum until the vacuum cleaner breaks down.
There is so much to this, that what I am telling you only breaks the surface. Hope this helps.

Heat, smoke, ozone generators, etc will not kill off the mite population. They could have a small impact, but otherwise this will have to go away on its own. Basically the mites have to "cycle out" and all immature mites mature and all mature mites die. Removing the source is the very first point of treatment. If that is not done, you will not control them. They will continue to propagate.
Using a true "miticide" that kills acarids is the only way to kill them with a chemical solution. Windex, essential oils, etc will do nothing. If you spray them directly and complete cover them them with some household solution, they might die. But you could accomplish the same thing by using a vacuum cleaner and extracting them. Few pesticides will leave enough residual to kill them after it is dry.
These things are very difficult to control and are relentless as you have experienced. There is not an easy way to kill them without using a miticide and eliminating the source. The only other hope is that at some point they will cycle out and the issue will be solved by Mother Nature.

Also wanted to note that we have taped up the A/C vents in the meantime and spray Windex regularly on the vents.
