Looking for recommendations to deal with repeat chigger infestations

We have had repeat issues with chigger infestations in a large DFW area residential lawn. Treating the entire lawn and landscape area of our lot with a backpack sprayer would be very time-consuming. I know you typically recommend against hose end sprayers, but someone recommended Hi Yield Bug Blaster in a hose end spray, which is 2.4% bifen, and also suggested adding a permethrin granule to our routine for a longer residual for other pests. Do you have any other recommendations as far as material to use and application methods? We also struggle with mosquitos, grubs, and roaches. Thank you

A backpack sprayer will work if it delivers a fan or cone spray that can be aimed at the ground. Generally with most pesticides, 1 gallon per 1000 square feet is recommended. So for 4000 feet, only 4-5 gallons is actually necessary. This can be done with a backpack sprayer. I recommend a battery operated sprayer. Chiggers are the immature stage of a mite, usually a straw itch mite. If you have an ongoing issue with chiggers, it's because there is continual breeding and propagation of the mites. A miticide designed for mites, such as bifenthrin, can provide control. However, using any over-the-counter spray, such as Hi-Yield Bug Blaster, usually will not provide control due to its concentration. You need a product such as Bifen XTS, or Bifen I/T applied with a hydraulic sprayer - such as those that most pest companies use. Hose end sprayers are not for applying pesticides in most cases. The reason is that you cannot get an exact dosage or dilution ratio with a hose-end sprayer. They dilute and water down the pesticide too much. These sprayers are better suited to use with herbicides and fertilizers.

A back pack sprayer is the only option unless you want to hire a pest company. Granules don't work to kill mites or chiggers. You need to wet the entire lawn surface and all grass blades to kill them. Granules won't do this.

Will a backpack sprayer deliver the volume of spray required to treat a situation like this? If so, is there a brand or type of unit you would recommend? I'm used to using those for spot treatment but not bulk spraying of entire lawn areas.
