You mentioned Bifen--should I use the granules or the liquid?
A - Liquid. Granules do not work for anything other than soil borne insects such as grubs, ants, etc. You need something to wet the leaves of the grass, plants, etc.
Also I forgot to mention I have two small children that play outside a lot. Are all of these chemicals highly toxic? How long should I keep them off the lawn after treatment or should I just keep them out of the yard until all treatments are finished?
A - Not highly toxic when dry. Just keep them off of the areas you spray until everything is thoroughly dried and any odors have disappeared.
And I also forgot to mention that I have termite bait stations around the house-from my exterminator- will treatment be the same with these around-can the granules or spray be near these things or on these things?
A - I would not recommend to spray near the termite bait stations. Keep the spray at least 2 feet away. You don't want to get any spray inside the station.
And finally, Is there a pest control company that can do this for me (mine has no idea about springtails) or am I the exterminator on this?
Springtails are not the norm in most places. Most exterminators are clueless on how to control them. I would recommend to do everything I have outlined and do it yourself. But then again, I would recommend to do your own termite baiting too. Its not difficult, and for $300 or so a year that they charge you for the service, you could easily learn how to and do it yourself. We have complete information on termite control and termite baiting too.
