Timbor is designed to be applied into the walls, areas where you find carpenter ants. The small duster is designed to allow easier application of the dust into walls through cracks, electrical switches, holes that you drill, etc. Timbor is not designed to be sprayed onto grass, lawns, etc. In fact, it is a type of salt that will actually kill live grasses, shrubs, etc. It is like spraying salt directly on these areas.
Timbor can be mixed with water and applied to bare wood. I don't think this is the best application for carpenter ants. Using it dry is the best way to apply it.
So to answer you question, no do not spray the bait. Inject Timbor into the areas where you think the ants might be living or nesting. Here is the label directions on Timbor - click here. Read the application directions on how to apply Timbor as a dry powder. Hope this helps.
