In one of your answers you mentioned not to use water based insecticides around baseboards. Why is that?
There is a roach infestation in my apt complex. It is a large 125 unit building. I have lived here over 6 years roach free but over the last several weeks I have seen an uptick in roaches and ants. Maybe 2 nights ago I was getting ready to brush my teeth and saw one literally climb up through the bathroom sink before bed. I bought some drain covers and now always keep them covered unless using them. I also now pour boiling water down the drains every couple days. I have seen roaches in the hallway outside my apartment and in some glue traps placed around my floor. I am seeing them more frequently in the kitchen in the sink and on the floor even having it spotless clean and regularly mopping. I've only seen one in my bedroom but several in the bathroom and believe they came through the sink. I bought some glue traps to monitor and ordered alpine wsg to spray lightly as I have read it produces good results. I am thinking about using some borax or boric acid powder as well and just sprinking it around appliances, baseboards and openings like the pipes underneath a sink. I haven't really dealt with roaches previously but I need to stay on top of things before it gets worse. If there are roaches in other units I know they travel but all I can do is maintain my own unit. I believe the sewer may be the issue but also there is an infestation in the building. The glue traps located where there are small cracks in the walls or openings have numerous roaches in the traps. I am now using a lot of plastic storage bins and garment storage bags, removing all paper bags and cardboard products but I have a lot of books and other items that could be inviting for them. All food not in the fridge go in sealable plastic containers. The problem at this time is mainly in the kitchen, I have seen maybe a dozen or so the last week but I know there are more. I have never seen more than maybe 1 or 2 at a time. I want to knock these things out and will stay on top of it. My basic question is what is wrong with water based insecticides like alpine wsg? I am going to apply it when it arrives with the glue traps. If that does not work then I will apply something different. What would you suggest? Thanks a lot of reading.
