Unless you can find carpenter ant damage, tear into the wood, wall, etc. You will have a hard time finding the nest.
Carpenter ants excavate the wood and toss the "Frass" out. Sometimes, the kickout holes that this frass is tossed out of, lead directly to then nest. Not always. Sometimes, the nest can be many feet away.
The KM Ant Pro Dispensers are used outdoors. They replace the ants natural food sources, since they don't actually eat wood for food. They only nest in it. They excavate the wood to create galleries in which to nest, but they usually go outdoors in search of food sources.
Carpenter ants feed on aphids, plant juices, and occasionally insects. The KM Ant Pro Dispenser with Gourmet Liquid Ant Bait provides an alternative readily available food source. The Dispensers are placed outdoors under shrubs, decks, and in shaded areas where the ants would normally look for food. They are easy to install and require no maintenance. Just replace the bait every 90 days.
Boric acid - dry dust, will not kill carpenter ants. They have to eat it. They will not eat boric acid mixed with water and sugar either. Diatemaceous earth is very limited in Carpenter Ant control, and not recommended.
The Spectracide Foaming Aerosol will kill Carpenter Ants, but unless you directly contact the nest, the queens will move and there is a distinct possibility that the nests will divide or bud into new nests.
At this point, the KM Ant Pro System is about your only alternative. The other option is to wait until they show up somewhere else and then begin the treatment.
Termidor Foam would have been a much better product to use, and will not repel the ants.
