Fruit Flies and Phorid Flies are different insects, and usually attracted by different means.
Fruit flies are attracted to rotting fermenting fruit, while Phorid flies are attracted to moisture, drains, fungus, etc.
The control for each of them starts with proper sanitation. If you are a pest control operator, and looking for a quick fix, look at the sanitation first. This is usually where all fly problems originate. If the place smells, or has a distinct dirty odor, then you will have to educate your client otherwise, you are fighting a losing battle.
After the floors and environment is clean, then chemicals and traps can be employed.
Drain Gel is great for floor drains to keep the gunk from building up. Screens on floor drains, bleach, etc, will also help to control phorid flies in drains.
CB80 is a great spot fogging product for killing flies in kitchens, bars, etc. Just a few seconds and a quick blast here and there will kill the flies on contact.
Fly traps such as the Genus FLI for kitchens and the Genus Spectra for bars will capture fruit and phorid flies.
Hope this helps.
