This is a common problem with all termite baiting systems. The stations must be periodically inspected to find if ants, water, slugs, weeds, mold, etc have infiltrated the station. In other words these stations must be maintained to make sure that they are enticing to the termites.
The IGR or inhibitor in Sentricon only effects termites. It has no effect on ants. If ants infest the station, it must be moved. Spraying or using anything inside the stations to kill the ants will potentially repel the termites. Using an above-ground non-repellent bait usually does not work.
If the station bodies are in good shape, wash the stations out with a water hose, no soap or anything and when dry, use new wood detectors you make yourself or buy the Hex Pro replacement wood strips. https://www.epestcontrol.com/pest-pro...

If the system is that old and not maintained, a little maintenance will save you a ton of money. I don't recommend Spectracide because of its cost.
