These products are designed to scare certain animals away. They are used as a scare tactic / predator scent. The products that contain combined scents will usually work better than a single scent. The effectiveness depends on the target animals acute sense of danger when exposed to the predator scent. Most of the time this is a genetic awareness. In some cases however, there is no "sense" of danger when exposed to the predator scent. This doesn't mean the scent doesn't work, it just doesn't work on certain animals, while it may work on others of the same species. In all cases, the best thing I can recommend is to try it and see if it works. If it doesn't, then other means of control such as trapping, exclusion, etc, may be required.
